WHEN NICE THINGS COME TOGETHER

Q: WHY, WHEN & WHERE DID YOU PHOTOGRAPH THESE IMAGES

A: As I sat in the warmth of home I was trying to immerse myself in the spirit of winter. Winter is difficult to me because I always yearn for the warmth of sunbeams. Anyway, I was enjoying the sunshine sitting comfortably behind the other side of the window and I saw it getting colder and colder outside (which is a normal phenomena so I heard). Then, through different social media channels I took notice that friends and family members where ice skating on the channels of Amsterdam which were frozen. Suddenly i got the fever of seeing ice with my own eyes. So I grabbed my bike, camera and went on a cycling tour. Cycling through Amsterdam I really enjoyed the classic feeling of this city. The images of people ice skating remembers me of old paintings I saw when I was a child, paintings of Hendrick Avercamp and Anton Pieck. The images show my everyday route through this nice city. After a while the cold was getting to me and I went home.. glad to have ‘shot’ some souvenirs of that icy day.
